I’m late again with my blog post, and I blame it on the cold. No, not the temperature—it’s been unseasonably warm for mid-October.
But October has brought a different kind of cold season to our house: The stuffy nose, achy sinuses, the “it’s just an annoying cold but I feel crappy” kind of ailment that makes you want to curse the house mate who so generously shared it with you. It seems everyone I talk to has or has had this bug. Rumor has it that it takes forever to go away. It’s been a week for me, and I’m feeling better, but still bothered enough that my normal walk wears me out.
We expect our first frost any day now. This morning it was just above freezing. And soon enough winter will be here. The first flakes of snow will bring excitement and glee, even from us old folks who ought to know better. By the time March arrives, even we introverts will suffer from cabin fever and a severe lack of sunshine.
As with everything, time seems to move faster and faster as we age. I’ll be 72 in just a few weeks. It seems impossible.
But spring will be here soon and I don’t want to waste a day even if it is snowy, cold, and crappy. In the meantime, the tree colors here have been stunning! I can’t remember when the oranges and reds have been so brilliant. This week the leaves have started to fall. Soon the trees will be bare, and before you know it…

Feel all the way better soon. I hope to be protected from that bug this year.
