Spare Parts

Who out there over the age of–let’s say 65–has all of their original equipment?

You know what I mean.

Eyeballs covered with filmy cataracts? Get new “eyeballs.” (oh, and while you’re at it, get some reading glasses–you’re gonna need them)

More than a couple of teeth missing? Fill in those pesky gaps with a partial plate..

Some of us (not me yet) have new knees…or hips… reconstructed shoulders…feet that require special inserts…

How about all the parts of you that no longer function properly as a result of childbirth? (After four kids, NOTHING works right any more) How about those same “parts” that now lack the flexibility and resiliency of pre-menopause days?

Sometime I feel like a 1952 vintage automobile: always in need of spare parts that are increasingly hard to find.

  1. So far, this 1952 model is still running well on original parts except for my tonsils which were removed when I was six. Oh, and a tooth that was replaced with a bridge. Do you know they no longer build bridges for teeth but instead do implants? I’m hoping my bridge goes out with me.
