What’s Happenin’?

First things first:

Lucy’s DNA results are in. Nothing really surprising except under the “supermutt” category, aka “a little of this, a little of that:” Beagle…Pit Bull… American Eskimo… German Shepard.

Holy big dogs! ….I guess the size factor got bred out over the generations.

In other news, my finished draft of Nostalgia is off to beta readers and a couple of Civil War buffs for review, and to my editor for a critique. So, for the next couple of weeks I will be on pins and needles waiting…. This is the hard part. I’ve read and re-read and re-read so many times I’m dizzy. I’m desperately in need of impartial feedback. And I s–o-o-o want to get this publishing-ready.

Next up: a TMI topic?? I underwent a colonoscopy last week. I have had one every five years since my mother died of colon cancer in 1989. No worries–it’s all clear. But I post this here to remind everyone: If you are nearing the age of 50 it’s time to start having a colonoscopy every 10 years; five if you are like me and have a close relative who had colon cancer. Yes, the “prep” is awful. But I’ve seen what colon cancer does to a person and it’s not pretty.

Bite the bullet-get it done now.

And last…If you haven’t read anything by Olivia Hawker, put her on your must read list. I’ve read three of her novels so far: One for the Blackbird, One for the Crow, The Ragged Edge of Night, and October in the Earth. If you have Kindle Unlimited, her books are available there. In my estimation, she is an outstanding writer and I want to be like her when I grow up.

That’s all for now. Stay tuned, I hope to have a publishing date for Nostalgia soon.

  1. I know that it’s easy for me to say but if I was you I wouldn’t worry myself too much about your people liking your writing. You’re a very talented person with great storytelling skills.!!!!
