Michigan! and…

Last week was spent in Michigan visiting Charlie’s brother, Dave, and sister-in-law, Joan. His sister Judy and her husband Doug were also there–all three of the Crary kids together again! We spent the first and last nights of our trip in Dunkirk, NY at my sister’s house to cut the 8 hour trip into manageable pieces.

Dave and Joan’s house is still a work in progress, but the amazing thing is Dave built it essentially all by himself. It’s a beautiful house in a remote part of Michigan not far from Ann Arbor.

For the most part there was a lot of biking and hiking, and a bit of kayaking (Joan and I vegged at home).

On Tuesday, all six of us took a trip to Frankenmuth, Michigan, a touristy town that I’d seen a sign for en route to Ann Arbor. It has a HUGE Christmas Shop just outside of town, and several quaint shops (think fudge, cheese, toys, German restaurants, etc). Of course we stocked up on fudge and cheese. (The fudge is out of this world!) And we ate dinner at the Bavarian Inn–totally German and totally awesome. Here are some photos:

And for my local friends: I will be at the Baldwinsville Public Library’s 9th Annual Author Meet and Greet on Saturday, October, 18th from 12:00-3:00 pm. Stop by and see me, and all of the talented local authors! (the poster is only a small sampling of the authors attending).

  1. Sounds like a place I’d like to visit. And, good luck at the meet-and-greet (aka, Onondaga County Public Library system’s preeminate local author event).
