It has been awhile since my last post, and my online blog feels more like a travelogue! The nearly month-long interim has been consumed by work on my third novel. Still no firm decision on a title, but my trusty designer, Kat, should have a promo flyer ready soon.
We spent last week (Aug 29-Sep 5) at Wells, New York. This was our fourth year here and it did not disappoint. I raided the fudge counter at the Northville 5 & 10, we had a yummy chicken and biscuit dinner at the Wells Methodist Church on Wednesday, and took several walks down the lake (not the full 4 miles around this time). Saw an osprey by the dam and lots of ducks. We’d heard there were eagles nesting on the lake –two adults and an immature — so we took out the kayaks in search of the nest. No luck until we managed to find someone who knew where to look: in a dead tree right by the dam. An early morning walk confirmed this with an eagle sighting, one of the adults. Charlie also saw them flying around the lake when he was out fishing.

For the most part I was content to stay at the cottage and write while Charlie was fishing, and went out on the kayaks with him a couple of times. I did make a lot of progress on my writing, about 3000 words, but I have a long way to go yet.
We will be visiting Wells again next year. Our years at Chimney Mountain were great, but it outgrew us, and we love our new “home” in Wells.
