Weatherwise? Not really. Highs have been in the mid-sixties for the most part, 74 on Wednesday, and the same is predicted for part of next week. Not unheard of for October/November, but who’s complaining? An impending El Nino promises warm, wet weather this winter season. So, lots of rain instead of lots of snow. I do love living in this part of the country but…. wet, cold, rain, snow–UGH!!
And then, there’s “cold season”: sniffles, sneezes, stuffy sinuses and deep coughs. This introvert ventured out into the public for an awards dinner two weeks ago, and what did I get? A STINKIN’ COLD! No winners plaque! No big recognition! Just achoo! achoo! cough, cough! (and no, it was not flu or COVID–I had both boosters a good week before I got sick). Here we are more than two weeks later and I’m still stuffy and achy (Charlie too, although he’s managed to stay busy anyway.) We had to cancel a planned trip to Philadephia to visit Charlie’s cousins. None of us are getting any younger and who knows how many more visits we’ll get?
Week before last I got absolutely no writing done. Last week was a little better: a couple more chapters cranked out,but a lot more planning to do. I plan to get my butt back in the chair tomorrow and get some serious story-telling on paper.
Wish me luck.
In the meantime, if you haven’t done it yet, please take a look at my two published novels: War Sonnets, and Nostalgia. Both have been nominated for awards. You can find purchase links here. I hope to have And Know They Love You out by fall of 2027. If you’d be interested in being a beta reader for me, I’d love to have you!
