“War Sonnets” Update

A lot has been happening since War Sonnets was launched on July 5th.

In July I was honored to be a guest on the local TV show, Bridge Street. And in August I was a guest of the Cato, NY Rotary Club where I shared my writing journey. Would your group (library, rotary, etc) be interested in a brief talk about War Sonnets? You can contact me here.

I am currently running an ad campaign on Amazon, and plan a Facebook campaign later this month. In October (10/16-10/20) War Sonnets will go on a blog tour with The Coffee Pot Book Club (more details as they become available).

I want to give back to our veterans who served, so on Veteran’s Day (November 11) all proceeds from sales will go to a local veteran’s organization, probably Syracuse Honor Flight.

Look for special pricing around the holidays. Who in your life would enjoy a story about World War II?

Sales are chugging along. Have you bought your copy of War Sonnets yet? If you haven’t, get on over to Amazon or Barnes & Noble* for your copy. If you have read it and enjoyed it, please tell your friends. I would love it if you post a rating on Amazon or Barnes & Noble (just stars will do!) The more ratings I get, the more sales I will be able to attract.

Speaking of ratings, War Sonnets has received some lovely 5-star reviews. Here are two:

Erin gave it 5 stars:
"Beautiful, raw, and moving
A haunting, moving novel set in the Pacific theater of WWII that doesn't shy away from the complex emotions and relationships forged on the battlefield. Inspired by her uncle's poetry, Willey not only creates a richly detailed, compelling story highlighting the true cost of war but also cleverly uses sonnets and haiku to frame her novel. Readers won't be able to put it down."

Another 5-star review came from Sarah O.
"I am not typically a fan of historical/war fiction, but...
…Susannah Willey writes her characters genuinely, depicting the ugly biases, shameful secrets, and quiet heroics of the average person. She asks the reader to spend time in the shoes of people from all walks of life, through whose perspective you experience a candid portrayal of ground combat in the Philippines during World War II…. What ensues is an emotional roller coaster during which Willey pulls no punches. No matter what side you take in this war, it will end with profound loss."

Lastly, thank you so much for your support and patronage. Writing is hard. Marketing is even harder and it’s gratifying when folks like you buy and enjoy War Sonnets.

*(Don't tell Amazon I said this, but if you are looking for the hardcover version of War Sonnets, consider going to Barnes & Noble. Their version comes with a dust jacket and, in my opinion, is much nicer than Amazon’s.)
